JOB PURPOSE:
The Junior APM Engineer will assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools, primarily Dynatrace, to ensure optimal performance, observability, and proactive incident resolution. The role involves learning full-stack monitoring, log analysis, and integration with IT operations tools.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in installing and configuring Dynatrace OneAgent on various platforms, particularly Linux-based systems.
• Support the setup of monitoring dashboards and custom metrics for IT & Business Operations.
• Configure and manage alerting profiles and thresholds to enhance proactive monitoring.
• Assist in the integration of Dynatrace with notification tools.
• Troubleshoot basic agent installation and connectivity issues.
• Learn and contribute to APM best practices, performance tuning, and incident response.
• Assist in setting up Dynatrace Synthetic Monitoring and OpenTelemetry integrations.
• Work closely with senior engineers on automation scripts and API-based integrations.
• Support the documentation of APM processes, best practices, and troubleshooting guides.
• Assist in deploying and maintaining Dynatrace Managed (On-Premise), ensuring optimal agent configurations and data collection.
• Customize dashboards, alerting thresholds, and metric visualizations for operational and business monitoring.
• Support automation initiatives by scripting API-based event ingestion and data extraction for reporting purposes.
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, IT Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in application performance monitoring, troubleshooting, or optimization within IT operations or a command center environment.
Technical qualifications:
• knowledge with using APM observability platforms and optimizing software performance concepts.
• Basic experience in APM tools, basically Dynatrace (preferably ELK, AppDynamics, Splunk, IBM Instana).
• Knowledge of Linux environments (file system, basic scripting, logs analysis).
• Understanding of networking, application logs, and monitoring fundamentals.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow, JIRA and Remedy.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn and get certified in Dynatrace.
• Good knowledge of Dynatrace agent instrumentation for applications, databases, and infrastructure.
• Experience in configuring dashboards and visualizations using Dynatrace's custom metrics and data sources.
• Basic scripting capabilities (Bash/Python) to support API-based automation
