The Infrastructure and Data Center Engineer plays a crucial role in architecting, implementing, and sustaining IT infrastructure as well as data center environments. This position mandates a strong command of virtual servers, network systems, storage solutions, and cloud infrastructures. The ideal candidate is expected to have basic knowledge of networking and security, while primarily concentrating on the operations of infrastructure and data centers. Responsibilities include the management of both physical and virtual systems to guarantee high availability and optimal performance while facilitating robust and scalable infrastructure solutions to support business operations.<\/p>

Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>

Infrastructure and Data Center Management:<\/strong>

  • Design, implement, and oversee IT infrastructure solutions encompassing servers, storage, and network systems, both in-house and on the cloud.
  • Optimize data center environments to ensure the efficient functioning of servers, storage devices, and network components.
  • Monitor environmental conditions within the data center (e.g., power, cooling, and physical security) to maintain system reliability and uptime.

Virtualization and Cloud Management:<\/strong>

  • Oversee virtual server environments utilizing platforms like VMware, Hyper-V, or analogous technologies.
  • Administer cloud infrastructure services, including virtual machines, storage, and networking on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Implement and maintain hybrid cloud solutions, integrating on-premises and cloud resources as per business requirements.

Unified Communication and Collaboration (CUCM):<\/strong>

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to cater to enterprise communication needs.
  • Troubleshoot VoIP systems, call routing, and integration with other collaboration tools.
  • Ensure the security and high availability of communication systems by implementing best practices for call quality and redundancy.

Network and Security Fundamentals:<\/strong>

  • Implement basic networking concepts and security principles to support infrastructure.
  • Assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Enforce security best practices for infrastructure and data center to comply with organizational policies and industry standards.

System Administration and Maintenance:<\/strong>

  • Choreograph installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, network systems, and storage solutions.
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure system security and integrity.
  • Resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network components.

Load Balancer and Firewall Administration:<\/strong>

  • Configure and optimize load balancers (like F5, Citrix ADC) for effective traffic distribution and application reliability.
  • Establish, oversee, and maintain firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA) to enforce security protocols and fend off cyber threats.
  • Analyze traffic patterns to detect anomalies and manage risks associated with network security and application performance.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:<\/strong>

  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to support continuous business operation during system failures.
  • Conduct routine backup and recovery tests to confirm the efficacy of the disaster recovery plans.

Documentation and Reporting:<\/strong>

  • Compile and maintain thorough documentation for infrastructure configurations and standard operating procedures.
  • Furnish regular reports on infrastructure performance, data center operations, and security status to the management team.

Collaboration and Support:<\/strong>

  • Collaborate with IT teams and other departments to fulfill infrastructure and data center requirements.
  • Offer technical support and trouble-shooting for infrastructure-related issues with a focus on minimizing operational disruptions.

Qualifications:<\/strong>

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure and data center engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, Linux, and Windows-based systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in CUCM management, load balancers, and firewalls.

Preferred Certifications:<\/strong>

  • Infrastructure and Cloud Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (MCAE).
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Associate Engineer.
  • Data Center Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Data Center.
