Team/Role Overview

The Rates Trader will support the trading desk in executing fixed income transactions, managing risk, and providing market insights. The role requires a strong understanding of fixed income markets, analytics, and trading strategies. The candidate will work closely with senior traders, sales teams, and risk management to optimize trade execution and contribute to the desk’s profitability.

What You’ll Do

• Trade Execution & Support: Assist in executing trades across fixed income products, including government bonds, corporate bonds, and structured debt instruments.
• Market Analysis: Monitor global and local fixed income markets, analyzing economic indicators, interest rate movements, and credit spreads to identify trading opportunities.
• Risk & P&L Management: Track daily risk exposures, profit and loss (P&L), and ensure trades comply with internal risk limits and regulatory guidelines.
• Liquidity Management: Help manage liquidity positions and funding requirements while maintaining market making obligations where applicable.
• Data & Analytics: Leverage financial models, pricing tools, and Bloomberg/Reuters terminals to support trading decisions.
• Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all trading activities align with internal compliance policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Coordination with Teams: Collaborate with sales, research, and middle office teams to provide best execution for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Trade Booking & Reporting: Accurately input and reconcile trades in trading systems, ensuring timely settlement and reporting.
  
  

What We’ll Need From You

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. CFA or FRM certification is a plus.
• Experience in fixed income trading, treasury, or a related financial role.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel (VBA preferred), and trading platforms. Knowledge of fixed income pricing models and risk metrics.
• Analytical Thinking: Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a solid understanding of bond pricing, duration, convexity, and credit risk.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and ability to work under pressure in a fast paced trading environment.
• Communication Skills: Ability to articulate market views and trading strategies effectively.
• Team Player: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with different teams across the bank.
