Duties & Responsibilities:
- To draft, review, and negotiate all type of legal contracts for both internal and external parties in a timely manner while ensuring the inclusion of all relevant information and supporting documentation, and provide recommendation and abide by the MENA general legal framework.
- To advise and provide legal opinions on all legal issues in Egypt and review and build all needed legal policies and SOPs and update them continuously.
- Corporate Governance: To draft and review resolutions and follow up with the relevant authorities in this regard and maintain a correct legal status for all Hikma entities in Egypt with such governmental bodies.
- To implement the day-to-day operations assigned for the department to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
- To interact and communicate with external parties, encompassing legal advisors and ministries, and to follow up on legal issues and cases. In addition, to manage, supervise and follow up on all litigation cases with external law firms, and to represent Hikma before courts and/or all relevant authorities when needed and to follow up on all legal governmental affairs and monitor and review all IP legal issues in Egypt.
- To advise on all regulatory and legal matters and coordinate with the internal departments within Hikma to safeguard Hikma’s rights and legal stance.
- Maintain a strong physical and electronic filing system and supervise the archiving process continuously.
- Administer and manage contracts and ensure proper implementation.
- Participate in internal investigations.
- To assist the MENA General Counsel in special projects, mergers & acquisitions.
- To manage and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all their work is carried out in an efficient manner and in compliance with the set policies, processes, and procedures.
- To follow all relevant Legal policies, processes, and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- To carry out due diligence for acquisitions and new business.
- To assist in the preparation and the development of the budget, and to monitor expenditures and financial performance versus budget.
- Participating in the establishment of strategies, policies and goals for the Legal Department in coordination with the MENA General Counsel.
Qualifications
- B. Sc. of Law degree (English Section is a must – French section is a plus) and license to practice law. (M.A degree in law is a plus)
- A minimum of 9+ years of relevant experience at a top law firm and/or in-house.
- Fluency in Arabic, English (French is a plus).
- Experience in drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful with excellent follow-through skills, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong intercultural, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
