Job Summary
The International Mechanic is primarily responsible for the mechanical safety and integrity of the operations and to safely ensure the continual function of the mechanical equipment on H&P rigs. This position provides an opportunity to help build and shape H&P’s culture and share your passion for H&P by delivering mechanical leadership developmental workshops; coaching H&P leaders in the field; working with a talented team to develop consistent mechanical solutions and training others in H&P on maintenance best practices.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates core values and safety standards according to the H&P way
- Ensures the safe mechanical operation of the drill rig, related equipment and personnel that use mechanical equipment as part of their regular duties. Must also have the capacity to comply with federal, state and territory mechanical standards and requirements, as well as related health, safety and environmental legislation
- Evaluates mechanical problems and takes corrective action
- Conduct safety inspection of mechanical components, making repairs and adjustments as needed and maintains compliance of same within equipment standards and H&P standards
- Install new equipment, retrofits, and upgrades, and ensure the installed equipment is operating properly
- Orders all mechanical parts and ensure adequate stock of parts are available
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment
- Lead job related JSA and Compass Card Meetings
- Completed Expert level of the BOP training in WorkDay
- Up to date on current Workday trainings as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES
- Must understand and use Permitted Operations Management System (POMS)
- Demonstrates the ability to enter thorough service reports into the E.A.M. system
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Able to demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Able to complete preventative maintenance procedures in a timely manner
- Ensures compliance with all relevant H&P policies
- Personally, complies with all Company policies and procedures and sets an example for others to follow
- Understands and applies local, territory, state and federal statutory obligations
- In conjunction with site management, is responsible for implementing safety and security measures for protection of personnel against mechanical failure, injury or near miss
- Provides regular updates and reports and works closely with site management
- Ability to consult with crews in order to optimize safety and productivity outcomes
- Willingness to learn and understand the application of relevant legislation as it pertains to drilling, electrical standards, HSE obligations and expectations, reporting, audit, working in locations where there are traditional owners (indigenous land holders) etc.

- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop trusting relationships with H&P leaders at every level.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve deliverables.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in rig drilling machinery and equipment
- Level 1 Mechanic with 3+ years’ experience as H&P Mechanic
- Previous experience working in indigenous environments
- Must have completed the Expert Mechanical Workday Certification training
Certifications
CPR, H2S, Respiratory Fit Testing, Rig Pass - IADC.
Languages
Arabic, and English.
Travel
- This position requires international travel, therefore a valid passport, vaccinations, and eligibility for and work visa are required, inclusive of passing background checks and medical screening.
Working Conditions
- Work is normally performed out-of-doors, where exposure to atmospheric conditions of extreme heat or cold, fumes, and gases are frequent
- Work assignments are generally 12 hours per day for 28 consecutive days with 28 days rest between assignments
- This position is exposed to noise, vibration, moving and mechanical parts, and electrical shock
Physical Demands
- The team member is required to perform most work while standing or walking
- The position is considered “medium” physically, which involves the movement of up to 50 lbs. to lift, push, pull, or carry equipment and tools
- The position requires eye and hand/foot coordination and manual dexterity associated with operating equipment and performing repairs and maintenance procedures
- Requires physical capability and stamina to climb flights of stairs up to 30 feet high
- Requires physical capability and stamina to climb a derrick up to 150 feet above the ground multiple times during 12 hrs. shift
- Vision and depth perception skills are required to monitor controls on equipment
- Hearing skills are required to detect equipment malfunctions
- Balancing and reaching are required to operate equipment
- The team member is required to pass client’s medical check

Internal – frequent contact with drilling personnel to give and receive information
External – frequent contact with vendors to order parts
