Job Description
The AVP Technology Quality Control will be responsible for the overall development, embedding, and management of technology control across NI Egypt & Africa Region. This role involves overseeing Control Risk and Technology Risk, ensuring the effective implementation and management of the control framework through continuous review and enhancement.
The AVP Technology Quality Control will also lead several challenging and important Quality Assurance & Control, BCM projects and programs of change.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Influence, manage, and empower teams to take accountability and responsibility for the identification, management, and monitoring of operational and technology risks.
- Ensure compliance with local operational, information, and security risk governance frameworks, as well as NI Group Corporate / Head Office policies and standards.
- Conduct reviews of business processes, identify risks/weaknesses, negotiate risk mitigation strategies with stakeholders, and agree on action plans within risk appetite thresholds.
- Implement and operate capabilities to qualify for Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA) under Basel II and meet Basel II use test requirements for Group purposes.
- Lead and support the other regions team’s development by coaching, mentoring, and managing performance.
- Increase the profile of the team as respected subject matter experts and business partners.
- Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders, including NLT/Snr Management, NI Group, and consultants.
- Keep abreast of industry threats, trends, and issues, ensuring that NI’s Control frameworks are in line with industry and international best practices.
- Experiment with new approaches to identify, measure, and report operational and technology risks that are more heavily based on data, models, and automation.
Key Responsibilities Related To Technology
- Review Coverage: Provide review coverage of all operational functions in departments according to approved plans to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations and safeguard NI assets.
- Departments Reviews: Plan and execute reviews to monitor operational activities' effectiveness and compliance with internal policies, procedures, applicable laws, and regulations.
- Internal Controls Evaluation: Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and security in NI operations, identifying weaknesses, and recommending improvements.
- Support Management: Assist the internal control manager in preparing and implementing review plans, ensuring comprehensive coverage of relevant departments to achieve IC objectives.
- Problem-Solving: Help other functions address issues by providing appropriate recommendations to improve controls without compromising service levels and SLAs.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure comply with internal policies, procedures, CBE guidelines, and relevant laws/regulations.
- Financial Transaction Accuracy: Ensure the completion, reliability, and accuracy of financial transactions and supporting documents.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare draft and final reports with observations and recommendations, ensuring they are supported by evidence.
- Corrective Actions Monitoring: Participate in updating the corrective action plan, ensuring timely closure by respective departments.
- System and Procedure Enhancement: Recommend changes to existing procedures and system enhancements to address risks and ensure risk mitigation is followed.
Identity Access Management
- Control various system security matrices and manage user access for various applications. Provide regular reporting on user access and identity-related risks.
- Train end-users on identity management tools.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant qualifications in commerce, finance, business, or accounting, along with internal auditing and control certifications.
- 15+ years of experience in a control function, with some spent in relevant leadership roles.
- A proven ability to develop an Internal Control business unit within a large Financial Services organization.
- A practical understanding of the business drivers and the strategic direction of NI Group and the role of Internal Control in achieving objectives.
- Experience in adding value to the functions & teamwork player.
- Awareness of current industry threats, trends, technologies, and issues that potentially affect the business.
- Sound knowledge of retail and commercial banking products and distribution channels & operations.
- Ability to negotiate with all levels of management to influence decisions, make recommendations, and implement change.
- Ability to identify and pursue solutions to manage control risks.
- Sound understanding of compliance requirements & central banks regulations.
- An open mindset to change and a constant drive to improve yourself and your team.

- Bilingual: Arabic and English, with high cultural understanding and sensitivity of All Regions Egypt, Africa & Middle East.
