Here, you will support and assist the Retail Services Manager in sales planning, organising and controlling In flight Duty Free sales with the intention of maximising revenue and achieving passenger satisfaction from the sale of Duty Free goods onboard all EK flights, while growing alongside professionals from diverse backgrounds, contributing to our shared success and making your mark on a global stage.

In This Role You Will Be Responsible For

  • Competitor Monitoring: In conjunction with Retail Services Manager, compile and compare other airline (OAL) business results and practices to ensure that Emirates remains among the leading on board Duty Free retailers.
  • New Business Development: To assist the Retail Services Manager in developing new sales channels for Duty Free products, such as mail order, pre order, internet and intranet retailing, local deliveries and flying flowers to enable duty Free services to maximise potential revenue return.
  • Product Selection: Research new products and analyse product categories for retailing through various sales channels, prepare a financial analysis and potential return for each project/item considered so that in conjunction with Duty Free Manager an informed decision can be made on product selection. To assist and support the Retail Services Manager in negotiations with suppliers, budgeting, pricing and developing passenger sales promotions to ensure best practice in terms of customer service and maximum revenue return to Emirates.
  • Stock Ordering: To control stock movements both incoming and outgoing from suppliers, insuring the correct quantity/specifications are delivered and monitoring the timely delivery of all products. Act as a liaison between the supplier, Emirates and the bonded warehouse to ensure continuity of availability of product to meet our passengers requirements. In line with the growth of the airline to forecast and adjust stock requirements to ensure the optimal stock holding level.
  • Stock Control: Monitor reconciliation by EKFC bond operations of inbound and outbound saleable stock, handheld computers, LivePOS terminals, credit card vouchers, promotional items etc loaded in bar carts. Initiate action to investigate and control usage/loss of Duty Free items and amenities to ensure that loss is limited to a minimal level. To pack and adjust master bar cart on a monthly basis to ensure optimal space utilisation. Recommends procedural improvements wherever possible, with the aim of reducing manpower requirements, increasing accuracy of function, or reducing procurement costs.
  • Electronic Sales System: To control the logistics, maintenance and operation of the Hand Held Computer and LivePOS Terminals and continuously develop systems and procedures to enable effective system.
  • Market Intelligence: To produce statistical data of sales/trends and financial performance to enable proper planning and development of the Duty Free sales business. e.g.: route specific bar cart loading.
  • Duty Free Brochure: Source support material required for inclusion in the Duty Free Brochure from external suppliers. Will ensure that these materials are provided to Corporate Communications department to meet the production schedule for timely publication of brochure.
  • Cabin Crew Communications: Will ensure that Cabin Crew is advised of all product/procedural changes including promotional products to ensure a consistent quality is delivered to the passenger. This will be achieved by the publication of a bimonthly newsletter to cabin crew or other affective methods as appropriate. Additionally, to organise effective retail training programmes for cabin crew ensuring the Cabin Crew are educated on the latest product developments/knowledge. The job holder will be responsible for monitoring Cabin Crew feedback to ensure that all operational issues are identified and corrective action taken where appropriate.
  • Quality Control: Monitor, evaluate and report product defects or brochure quality with a view to identifying poor quality trends, and accurately determining the cause of potential problems. Where the cause is external the job holder will take appropriate action with supplier to remedy problem and avert future reoccurrence. To actively seek and obtain customer feedback and manage customer complaints.
  • Will support and undertake other departmental responsibilities and functions as required, due to other Personnel absence or as requested by Line Manager, to ensure continued and smooth operation of the Duty Free Department.
  • Understand and apply the IFS Quality Policy Statement enthusiastically to fully satisfy our customers first time every time.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements;

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within customer service
  • Knowledge of Duty Free Sales in the transport industry
  • Advanced knowledge of standard Microsoft packages MS Word, Databases, Spreadsheets, Excel and PowerPoint
