Job Purpose

A Safety Officer is responsible for supporting the development of OHS policies and programs, advising and instructing various safety-related topics, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures. They review existing policies and measures, organize OHS training, inspect premises and work activities and fire protection system, investigate incidents, and prepare reports on occurrences. Their role also includes identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with legislation, and promoting a culture of health and safety in the workplace.



Job Dimension



  1. Regularly inspect the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulation
  2. Review safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment
  3. Perform risk assessments to identify potential safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  4. Prepare and submit reports on safety inspections, incidents, and safety audits and send to HOD
  5. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety meetings
  6. Conduct safety training sessions for employees on various safety topics, including emergency procedures, proper use of equipment, and safe work practices
  7. Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes and develop preventive measures
  8. Develop and implement emergency response plans and coordinate emergency drills
  9. Foster a culture of safety within the organization by encouraging safe work practices and recognizing employees who follow safety guidelines
  10. Verification and inspection of fire protection system components
  11. Processes and reviews purchase requests to ensure compliance with departmental policies and budget guidelines. Coordinates with internal teams to gather quotes, track approvals, and maintain accurate record



Qualification


Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety
