Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Head of Strategy Management Office (SMO) to lead the strategic planning and execution function of a leading bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will oversee the development, alignment, and performance monitoring of the bank’s strategic initiatives in alignment with the board’s vision and national transformation goals, including Saudi Vision 2030.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the bank’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with regulatory, digital, and market evolution.
  • Establish and manage the Strategy Management Office (SMO) to serve as the central hub for all strategic initiatives across the bank.
  • Partner with executive leadership and business units to translate strategic goals into executable programs and initiatives with clear KPIs.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by ensuring consistent communication and understanding of strategy across all departments.
  • Oversee and manage the strategic project portfolio, ensuring prioritization, alignment with goals, resource optimization, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of strategic initiatives through dashboards, scorecards, and periodic reports to executive leadership and the board.
  • Conduct strategic assessments, industry benchmarking, and scenario planning to support decision-making.
  • Develop frameworks for enterprise-wide performance management in coordination with the PMO, finance, and operations.
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, digital, and transformation teams to ensure strategic initiatives are executed within the appropriate governance structure.
  • Lead and mentor a team of strategy analysts and managers within the SMO.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Strategy.
    (Master’s Degree or MBA is strongly preferred.)
  • 8+ years of experience in strategy development, management consulting, corporate strategy, or transformation, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven leadership experience in setting up or managing a Strategy Management Office or similar strategic function.
  • Experience in digital banking transformation, regulatory alignment, and strategic execution frameworks.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align corporate goals with market demands and operational capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs), balanced scorecards (BSC), and strategic dashboards.
  • Experience working with executive teams, boards of directors, and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Certification in Strategic Planning, Balanced Scorecard, or Performance Management (e.g., KPI Certified Professional)
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or any project/program management certification (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Vision 2030 initiatives and Saudi regulatory environment (e.g., SAMA)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • High-level proficiency in tools like Power BI, Excel, Strategy Mapper, or OKR software
