Job Description

Acuity is currently seeking Respiratory Therapist to support our Global Health Services Business Unit.

Responsibilities

***Must be local to Howell, MI area***

The Respiratory Therapist shall have at least two years of current experience in critical respiratory care with emphasis on ventilators. Must have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) provider certification and have successfully completed a course in Altitude Physiology, Aircraft Fight Safety, and Communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide intensive care monitoring and advance emergency care support to ill and injured patients during air medical evacuations primarily by helicopter and fixed wing platforms.
  • Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Respiratory Therapists to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Conducting and monitoring prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures Maintaining artificial and natural airways.
  • Performing pulmonary function testing.
  • Performing hemodynamic monitoring and other physiologic monitoring
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses according to established operating instructions within the scope of regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Performs record-keeping functions in accordance with program policies and position.
  • Maintains functional proficiency and ease of use utilizing electronic health records as required by, and appropriate to, position.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, and confidentiality of medical records, in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations in all work activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provide services in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
  • Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of advance clinical procedures, patient care protocols, aviation safety, radio communication, medical equipment and emergency/survival procedures.
  • May require overnight stays.
  • Participates in loading and unloading of patients at originating and destination facilities.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
  • Must have at least two years of current experience in critical respiratory care with emphasis on ventilators.
  • Must have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) provider certification.
  • Successful completion of a course in Altitude Physiology, Aircraft Fight Safety, and Communications is preferred.
  • Hold and maintain a current, unrestricted US (State) Respiratory Therapist License.

Other Requirements:

  • Must hold a Passport valid for a term of no less than 13 months at time of deployment.
  • Must sign a Acuity International Assignment Agreement and are bound to the terms and conditions of the agreement.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance Caliburn Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
  • No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
  • Must be able to lift and carry packages and cases of equipment
  • The climate is desert-like, hot, and prone to dust storms.
