Role Summary:

Legal Counsel role is significant role in Shell Egypt (the “Company”) with responsibility for providing legal advice to various departments including but not limited to Commercial, Human Resources, Finance and Technical Departments.

Reporting to the Managing Counsel & Head of Legal for the Company, the legal counsel should possess reliable background in Egyptian Laws and international agreements and should be familiar with a wide range of corporate legal issues (knowledge of Egyptian Concession Agreements and generally oil & gas regulations and related agreements, would be a plus).

Strong drafting and negotiation skills are essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • legal due diligence processes related to Business Development opportunities
  • coordination with external lawyers and with lawyers within several departments in Shell Legal when their advice or involvement is required
  • Legal advice on execution and interpretation of the full range contracts typically used in the upstream E&P business
  • Legal support for negotiations with partners, governmental entities and stakeholders
  • Evaluation of legal risks related to projects, assessing their severity, and proposing mitigation actions
  • Support to various functions by providing legal standards and model contracts covering upstream contracts as well as legal advice on contracts and related matters including general legal and regulatory.
