Job Purpose

To support management in decision-making and planning through financial performance analysis and reporting, while maintaining effective controls over the JV portfolio’s financial processes, management information, and budgets in line with company guidelines. Collaborate with the Head of JV Portfolio to safeguard investments, coordinate strategic planning, and supervise process improvements and JV escalations.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

Strategic Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive value extraction for the group through portfolio management
  • Act as the secondary liaison (to Head of JV portfolio) for managing day-to-day inquiries and engagements with JV partners
  • Assist in JV project delivery, including JV conversions and JV greenfield
  • Share responsibility for the “hub” of JV activities and accountability for JV activities and deliverables

Functional Roles And Responsibilities

  • Conduct due diligence reviews on potential JV partners and propose risk mitigation strategies to key management
  • Review financial performance reports and trends from joint ventures, highlighting emerging concerns and recommending potential resolutions
  • Support and coordinate the establishment of essential legal documentation for JV formation and implementation
  • Assist in monitoring and administering the execution of JV agreements throughout the JV lifecycle
  • Monitor groups interests and rights throughout the JV lifecycle as the JV partner

Financial Process Management

  • Evaluate the performance of portfolio companies and set performance benchmarks
  • Gather, analyze, and report JV companies’ performance, preparing meaningful dashboards for management
  • Analyze store/expansion feasibilities and review financial statements
  • Develop and maintain financial, valuation, and margin models
  • Prepare commercial analysis and financial modeling for potential JVs
  • Support strategic planning and business plan development
  • Track and manage invoicing and recharges for services provided to JV companies by company

Tax

  • Facilitate connections with external advisors on tax requirements

Administrative

  • Assist in administrative tasks such as document control, JV governance matters, and other tasks assigned by the Head of JV Portfolio

Job Requirements

Education/Certification and Continued Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA, CIMA)
  • MBA preferred

Years Of Experience

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in M&A, transaction advisory, or portfolio management

Knowledge And Skills

  • Financial and commercial knowledge of JVs and investment projects
  • Financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Relationship building with senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Proficient in English; Arabic, Italian, or French is advantageous
  • Analytical, numerical, and research skills
