We are now seeking to add a Quantity surveyor

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role, with a focus on pre-contract activities such as cost management and cost planning.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing the pre-contract phase of construction projects across various sectors, including commercial and residential.
  • Experience in preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for construction projects of varying complexity and scale.
  • Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software tools for quantity surveying, cost estimation, and project management (e.g., CostX).
  • Develop detailed cost plans at all stages in collaboration with project stakeholders, aligning with project scope and client expectations.
  • Utilize industry data and market trends to inform cost planning decisions, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to optimize project outcomes while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) and pricing schedules for tender documentation, ensuring clarity and consistency.
  • Evaluate tender submissions from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating pricing agreements and contractual terms.
  • Monitor project expenditures against budgeted costs, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide regular cost reports and updates to project management and clients, communicating financial status and forecasts effectively.
  • Proactively manage risks related to cost overruns and market fluctuations, implementing mitigation strategies to protect project finances.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, regulations, and best practices in cost estimation and management.

Experiences And Qualifications

  • Previous experience of FIDIC Contracts preferred
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying from recognised university
  • Min 7 years post-degree relevant experience in contracts and commercial management
  • Experience in one of the following key sectors: hospitality, residential, buildings, infrastructure etc.
  • Must have consultant and/or client background for minimum of 4 years
  • Knowledge in the use of QS software Cost X or similar is required
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills
