Some core responsibilities of a supply chain planner include:

  • Plan both short- and long-term to align supply and demand to support inventory needs
  • Project forward-looking inventory positions
  • Facilitate collaboration meetings with stakeholders and vendors to review purchase forecasts, proposed orders, and other operational issues
  • Monitor weekly and monthly order pipeline, prioritizing work orders
  • Review supplies to ensure quality, monitor stock levels and maintain accessibility to information
  • Build relationships with transportation, warehouse supervisors, and co-workers to achieve higher performance
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to terms of contracts
  • Tracking the company’s current inventory
  • Analyzing available data from demand planning, inventory reports and other resources
  • Recommending changes to the way the company handles inventory
  • Anticipating factors that might influence demand, such as seasonal slowdowns or upcoming promotions
  • Managing the storage of inventory and materials
  • Maintaining enough inventory to meet demands without overstocking
  • Collaborating with operations, production and other supply chain department team members
  • Negotiating with vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinating with Sales team for export shipment
  • Managing Export documentation for International sales
  • Manaing and coordinating with Freight Forwarders for export Shipment

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required for a Supply Chain Planner position. Some of the most common majors for the role are:
  • Business Administration/ Supply Chain Management
  • Strong understanding of the supply chain process
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge about Import/Export documentation
  • Strong communication skills to interact with vendors, suppliers, customers and other supply chain team members
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus on numbers for long periods
  • Ability to count inventory and sometimes move heavy objects while monitoring and managing the current inventory
