The Pharma International Communications Business Partnering Team is part of the wider Pharma Business Partnering team and we are actively embracing Roche’s new way of working and unleashing greater personal impact.

The position

The Senior Business Communications Partner, Middle East - is part of an international team working to foster Roche’s influence, meaningfully advance the public health conversation, and mobilize our people behind a common purpose and strategy.

While you will indirectly lead the Corporate Communications network for Pharma in the Middle East, you will also be expected to work on our Pharma International strategic priorities internationally and to spearhead Corporate Communications for UAE and Iraq.

Your main responsibilities will be to

  • Support Roche’s positioning, profiling and market shaping efforts: Stay abreast of company developments and market trends in order to identify actionable insights and opportunities key that can help shape the environment and influence the public agenda
  • Lead the communications network across the Middle East: Encouraging and enabling more effective activation of local priorities and high levels of collaboration topics to influence the market shaping working alongside with Market, Access, Policy, Diseases Areas and others.
  • Advance the impact of the function in the Middle East and UAE specifically: Use strategic consulting skills to ensure local and regional communications efforts are focused, fully integrated and that impact is understood.
  • Work cross functionally to accelerate progress: Collaborate closely with relevant government affairs, policy and access colleagues to strengthen stakeholder engagement and influence our priorities in a consistent and optimised way.
  • Strength Roche´s reputation by engaging the key stakeholders: Assess and develop strategies for effective engagement to raise awareness and strengthen our reputation among key external stakeholders, including but not limited to patients, the media and key influencers.
  • Drive internal engagement: Enhance the performance of our organisation by connecting and mobilising our people behind our ambition and strategy
  • Acts as sparring partner, advisor and inspiration-sparker for the Head of Pharma Middle East, the General Manager of UAE, the General Manager of Iraq and other senior leaders


Who You Are

You bring the following educational background, experience and capabilities:

  • You hold a Bachelor degree, preferably in International Relations, Politics or History from a top tier university
  • You possess a Postgraduate degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Communications, Journalism or International Development a plus
  • You have 7 to 10 years of corporate/public affairs experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry in the Middle East region
  • You have proven leadership experience in non-hierarchical environment and ability to lead without authority
  • You are experienced in leading multi-stakeholder engagement and advocacy
  • You are skilled in cross-functional project management, including managing external agencies and budgets
  • You have Issues and crisis management experience
  • You have a deep understanding of the overall business and its markets
  • You are able to build a motivated, empowered and networked team that challenges the status quo, explores new ways of doing things and radically simplifies
  • You are capable of driving change with proven ability to influence business leaders and Communications professionals to achieve desired outcomes
  • You are a strong leader, strategic thinker, communicator and influencer, who is able to:
  • Articulate a strong vision for the future of healthcare
  • Understand political decision making and complex networks of influence
  • Thrive in our rapidly changing political environment, charting a successful course for Roche

This role requires travel.
