Job Purpose: Job Purpose:

Design Engineer is responsible to develop design and substantiation data for modifications and repairs on large aeroplanes in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements, Emirates Design Organization Handbook, and related Procedures.

Job Accountabilities:

Generic

  • Perform design engineering activities within the terms of Emirates Design Organization approval, as specified in the approval certificate and Design Organization Handbook.
  • Classification of changes to type certificate and repairs designed by the organization.
  • Perform compliance inspections and witness certification tests, as required.
  • Provide on-site support during the implementation of modifications/repairs. Develop compliance checklist and update as required.
  • Provide support and expertise to other Technical Services Engineers working on minor design changes.
  • Provide necessary support to the Office of Airworthiness for; preparation of certification programmes, update to Design Organization Handbook and related procedures, design data archive, design organization contactor/subcontractor monitoring program, regulatory audits, addressing any non-compliance, quality, or compliance deficiencies.
  • Work closely with outside vendors, MROs, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders within the company, to create engineering solutions that exceeds expectations.

Specific to Structures:

  • Review change requests and develop design solutions for modifications and repairs to aircraft metallic and composite structures.
  • Conduct Fatigue & damage tolerance assessment and develop design & compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as:
    • Compliance statements.
    • Engineering drawings.
    • Weight & Balance analysis.
    • Test plans and reports.
    • Compliance inspection plans.
    • Equipment qualifications.
    • Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
  • Be authorised and work as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Structures.

Specific to Cabin Interiors:

  • Review change requests and conduct system & cabin safety assessment of proposed changes, develop design solutions for modifications to aircraft cabin interiors such as, introducing new LOPA, associated changes to Passenger Service Units (PSU) and Emergency Equipment, installation of galleys, monuments, lavatories, and class dividers to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop design and compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as:
    • Compliance statements.
    • Engineering drawings
    • Weight & Balance analysis.
    • Functional Hazard Assessment, System Safety Assessment.
    • Test plans and reports.
    • Compliance inspection plans.
    • Equipment qualifications.
    • Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
  • Be authorised and work as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Cabin Interiors.

Specific to Electrical and Avionics Systems:

  • Review change requests and develop design solutions for modifications and repairs to aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Develop design and compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as:
    • Compliance statements.
    • Schematic and Wiring Diagrams.
    • Harness / Wire routing installation drawings, and harness build up diagrams.
    • Electrical load analysis (ELA) supplements.
    • Functional Hazard Assessment, System Safety Assessment, EWIS Assessment.
    • Test plans and reports.
    • Compliance inspection plans.
    • Equipment qualifications.
    • Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
  • Be authorised and work as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Electrical & Avionics

Qualifications & Experience: Qualifications:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)

Degree in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience in in Engineering,10+ Years
  • Minimum 8 years experience in aerospace industry, of which at least 5 years in an EASA Part 21 or GCAA CAR 21 Design Organisation, preferably holding Major change/STC approval.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience on Emirates fleet types is preferred.
  • Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) is preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of EASA Part 21J and GCAA CAR 21 regulatory requirements, including CS-25, CS-26, (E)TSO, and CFR Part 25.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise technical information for implementation in cost effective ways.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex tasks and decision making in a fast-paced environment.

Specific to Electrical and Avionics Systems

  • Degree in Aeronautical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge or training on Fundamental Avionics, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254 and System Safety Assessment.
