Specific Responsibilities

The Planning Manager position for Apache Egypt will be a member of Apache’s Planning and Performance Management function at the company’s Cairo Joint Venture, reporting to the Sr Manager of Planning, Egypt based in Cairo.

Apache operates two Joint Venture (JV) companies in partnership with the Egyptian General Petroleum Company, currently being merged into a single JV, Khalda Petroleum. The merger will involve a number of integration and optimization projects intended to streamline and modernize the JV business and operational processes. The Planning Manager will be responsible for planning activities within the merged Joint Venture, working across the JV functions and with our Apache Corporate planning group. This is a high impact and highly visible role to deliver long term value.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

Joint Venture planning focal point and primary interface with Egypt Joint Venture Function Leads and Apache Corporate, Upstream and Midstream planning teams;

Lead in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Joint Venture work program and budget preparation and outlook revision exercises;

Work with Joint Venture Operations and Engineering functions to update well and capital activity timing and expenditure forecasts, refresh well activity schedules and model downtime forecasts;

Maintain a Joint Venture plan that integrates a long-term outlook with a short-term executable plan;

Provide various Joint Venture plan scenarios as requested;

Report and analyze current and/ or potential constraints would curtail production growth (e.g. facilities, supply chain, inventory);

Provide in-depth analysis and present findings on key drivers of monthly outlook variances;

Prepare materials for review by Joint Venture executive team and Joint Venture Board members;

Prepare JV Board of Director meeting presentations and agendas that include short and long-term plans, performance against plan, costs and look-backs on prior activities;

Conduct in-depth evaluations of key internal metrics to assist Joint Venture management in historical analysis, and

Provide monthly input into the Egypt Enersight model and support Midstream Asset team with model enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

An undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Finance;

At least 15+ years of experience in a business setting working with data, budgeting, financial and data analysis;

Experience working in the upstream energy industry with a strong understanding:

oil and gas development and production processes;

upstream Production Sharing Contracts;

Joint Venture operations;

At least 5+ years of experience in budgeting, planning, and/ or performance management role in oil and gas industry.

Intensive experience in cost allocation (OPEX/CAPEX) and cost recovery mechanism in oil and gas joint ventures in Egypt.

Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team;

Exposure to:

planning and budgeting processes;

report preparation and presentation to senior leadership;

organizational change management;

Demonstrable ability to learn new applications or experience with applications including:

Enersight;

Anaplan;

Esi.Manage;

MS Access;

Spotfire;

Oracle

MBA, PMP, CMA, or CFA is a plus

Outstanding communication, interpersonal, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills;

Experience in analyzing complex processes and multi-faceted problems, and developing solutions to simplify and streamline;

Demonstrated ability to adapt communications, interpersonal style and work product for different situations and audiences;

Demonstrated ability to communicate vision, set goals, and work toward established timelines;

Proficiency facilitating meetings to achieve an objective; Ability to “read a room” and adapt communication styles in real time;

Ability to lead through ambiguity, identify themes and distill information for various audiences;

Capability to prioritize effectively and work quickly and decisively with multiple workstreams happening in parallel;

Ability to identify what needs to be done and proactively address needs, in some cases with limited oversight or direction;

Ability to lead in a matrix environment and collaborate across functions to achieve an end goal;

Strong attention to detail;

Intellectually curious, willingness to tackle all types of work, and an eager learner;

Exposure working in an international, multi-cultural environment, and

Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
