A Junior Accountant provides support to the accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. This role involves ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations, preparing financial reports, and maintaining general ledger accounts. The Junior Accountant will work closely with a senior accountant or accounting manager and assist in the preparation of financial statements and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Accounting:
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
    • Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:
    • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
    • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ledger Maintenance:
    • Update financial data in databases to ensure accuracy and availability.
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Audit Support:
    • Assist with internal and external audits.
    • Prepare audit schedules and provide documentation as requested.
  • Bank Reconciliation:
    • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Expense Tracking:
    • Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies.
    • Track and report on expenses, ensuring adherence to budgets.
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Some experience in accounting or finance roles is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Internship experience in accounting is beneficial.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
    • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment:

  • This position is typically based in an office setting, with a standard 40-hour work week. Occasional overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements:
