The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining robust financial controls. This role includes managing accounting records, evaluating financial risks, and providing strategic guidance to support the company’s financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee all financial and accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
    • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Compliance and Control:
    • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
    • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Audit and Risk Management:
    • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
    • Develop and implement training programs for staff.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Support the CFO in developing and executing the company’s financial strategy.
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to other members of the executive team.
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent role.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and financial analysis tools.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Work Environment:

  • This position is typically based in an office setting, with a standard 40-hour work week. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Light physical effort may be required.
