Job Summary:

The Payroll Manager oversees the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization. They will manage the payroll team, ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations, and implement efficient payroll procedures and controls. The Payroll Manager will work closely with the HR and Finance departments to maintain strong internal controls and provide accurate payroll reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the payroll department, including the processing of employee paychecks, tax filings, and other payroll-related activities.
  • Oversee the payroll team, provide training and guidance, and ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed payroll records and ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Reconcile payroll data with financial accounts and provide accurate reporting to management.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to prevent payroll errors and fraud.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government agencies, banks, and benefits providers on payroll-related matters.
  • Analyze payroll data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and best practices, and implement necessary updates.
  • Collaborate with the HR department on employee onboarding, terminations, and other payroll-impacting events.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees on payroll-related inquiries and concerns.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a payroll management or senior payroll specialist role.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and labor laws.
  • Proficient in using payroll software and HR information systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of payroll professionals.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-country or multinational payroll environment is an asset.
  • Expert Excel user, and a minimum of one HR system knowledge.
