Overview
The purpose of this job is to drive the Environmental Health & Safety performance excellence with regards to culture & compliance to PepsiCo standards & local regulations across Alex & Canal DCs including Fleet Workshops (LD&T, HR, Facilities, etc.). In addition, the role will require coordination with other business units such as Sales to ensure the implementation of EHS systems & programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead & align SUE Sales Units/teams to deliver step change improvements in EHS KPIs.
- Conduct & review/update of risk assessment (for routes & tasks conducted by Sales) across all operations. Develop timely action plans to implement adequate risk controls.
- Establish, update & ensure implementation of Tier 4 (site-specific) EHS programs & working practices to ensure compliance with PepsiCo's Global Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (policies & procedures).
- Ensure EHS documentaion (documents & records) are updated, adequately communicated/accessible to all relevant stakeholders, & managed through a document control system.
- Establish & maintain an EHS Compliance Calendar; for tracking goals & metrics, conducting EHS monitoring & reporting, & tracking legislation & permit requirements.
- Consult with medical department regarding any injured employee(s) & managing their to return to work.
- Identify, align & spend EHS budget for SUE Sales Units (Opex & Capex) to mitigate/eliminate EHS risks & drive towards Zero Harm through enhancing EHS capability & culture. Additionally, ensure consistent financial performance versus AOP.
- Investigate root causes of incidents including all injuries & illness occurring across SUE Sales Units. Identify adequate corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure incidents are properly & timely reported according to Pepsico standard.
- Lead implementation of sales safety program, process & policies across SUE Sales Units including:
- Partner with HR to manage sales drivers selection, testing & hiring process.
- Defining safe driving rules & safe working practices.
- Installation, inspection & maintenance of fleet monitoring devices.
- Conducting refresher SMITH/Defensive Driving Training for Drivers annually
- Completion Behind the Wheel Coaching plans
- Ensure with key stakeholders (Sales, HR, Workshops, etc.) changes are managed under adequate Management of Change (MoC) to ensure compliance with Pep EHS standards.
- Ensure adequate & robust governance systems are in place to improve performance & ensure regulatory compliance. Ensure periodic reviews/update of existing EHS standards, programs & practices. Partner with workshop team to emphasis sales vehicles requirements & process including:
- All sales vehicles are equipped with minimum vehicle requirements.
- Ensure on time completion of preventive maintenance schedule.
- Proper vehicle registration, licensing & insurance.
- Set & implement vehicle weight compliance standard.
- Comply with any other federal or local legal requirements for fleet management.
- Align on best practice deployment & development of supporting tools required to deliver the aspired performance improvement. Drive standardization & lift & shift of initiatives across Sales units including relevant ones from Deployment, MEM, non-commercial.
- Lead continuous EHS improvement of SUE Sales Units through monitoring KPIs, trend analysis, benchmarking, auditing & supporting operations in setting action plans & ensuring their implementation.
- Partner with Fleet Control Tower team to link Sales vehicles to enable 24/7 monitoring, establishing relevant driver/vehicle database & reporting systems, resolving configuration & system issues & hence improvement in drivers’ behavior
- Conduct routine Sales EHS performance reviews & corrective/preventive action plans with Sales Supervisors, USMs & RSMs to highlight critical to EHS risks, monitor action plan closure, share incidents alerts, etc. Elevate engagement & drive positive performance as per AOP targets & Fleet Sales Safety priorities.
- Build strong EHS capabilities across SUE Sales Units. Assess capability, identify gap & execute training & development programs. Coach, motivate & recognize individuals & teams for EHS contributions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience in a similar industry is required
- Experience in F&B fleet environment is preferred
- Professional EHS certification is preferred
- Functional EHS knowledge in local & international regulatory requirements, EHS technical aspects (safety, road safety, manual handling, environmental), risk management, behavior-based safety, training, auditing / program review, regulatory agency enforcement, vendor / consultant management, business knowledge required
- Bachelor of Science / Engineering is preferred
- Fluent Arabic is required. Good English is preferred
- Strong computer skills & knowledge of Microsoft Office (powerpoint, excel, etc.)
