Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Leadership And Strategy

  • Develop and assist with the execution the global contract logistics strategy in alignment with DP World's overall objectives from a capability / operational perspective.
  • Provide strong leadership to regional and local teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Implement Global key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the health success of the Contract Logistics business.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities in the contract logistics industry. Build industry thought leader in the contract logistics capability.

Operational Excellence

  • Share existing capability globally across all DP World operating regions and expand the current capability to meet the ever-changing market demands.
  • Streamline and enhance global contract logistics processes to ensure efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the implementation and adherence to best practices in contract logistics, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
  • Lead the innovation agenda to implement automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with IT team to implement fit-for-purpose WMS systems across DP World.

Client Relationship Management

  • Strengthen relationships with clients from an operational / capability perspective, understanding their needs and ensuring our contract logistics solutions exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for growth and expansion within existing client accounts.

Financial Management

  • Work with the region and assist to develop and guide the budget for contract logistics operations, ensuring cost control and financial performance targets are met.

Risk Management And Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with global contract logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant international regulations and industry standards.

General

  • Accountable for leading an engaged team, providing direction and promoting collaboration while ensuring they are enabled to carry out the goals and objectives of the business.
  • Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours harmoniously with DP World’s values and culture.
  • Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities.
  • Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Context

DP World is a leading enabler of global trade and an integral part of the supply chain. Container handling is the company’s core business and generates more than three quarters of its revenue. In 2018, DP World handled 71 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) across our portfolio, about 1/9 of global container volume. With its committed pipeline of developments and expansions, the current gross capacity of 90 million TEU is expected to rise to more than 100 million TEU by 2020, in line with market demand.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently, be comfortable with ambiguity, and be able to communicate with and influence employees at all levels of the organization. S/he will be a strong project manager with deep analytical abilities and will over-index in several leadership competencies, particularly deep dive, invent and simplify, ownership, bias for action and delivering results.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. MBA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in the logistics and supply chain industry, with at least 15 years of experience in Contract Logistics
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the contract logistics sector with a global scope.
  • Strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, market trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience with lean management principles and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred
  • Confidentiality - You consider and protect the confidentiality of company data at ALL times;
  • IT skills - You are highly proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio;
  • Flexibility to travel - You are ready to travel between 30 - 50% of the time across the globe
  • Languages - You speak and write fluent English – additional languages are a bonus;
