Job Description
- Design, implement, and maintain data center infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, develop solution architectures, and create implementation plans.
- Assess current data center infrastructure and recommend improvements to optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage data center migrations, including planning, execution, and post-migration validation to minimize disruptions and downtime.
- Configure and deploy virtualization or backup technologies, such as VMware and CommVault, to maximize resource utilization and flexibility.
- Monitor data center operations, proactively identify issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous service availability.
- Implement and maintain data center security measures, including access controls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security audits.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, conducting regular tests and updates to ensure readiness.
- Collaborate with network and systems teams to integrate data center infrastructure with network architecture and enterprise systems.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data center technologies, recommending innovations to improve infrastructure efficiency and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the Infrastructure team, including training and knowledge transfer, to enhance overall team capabilities.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, selection, and management, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT projects and initiatives, contributing expertise in data center infrastructure design and implementation.
- Adhere to industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements, ensuring data center operations meet security and governance standards.
- Develop and implement a long-term infrastructure strategy aligned with business goals and objectives, considering emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Evaluate and select hardware, software, and cloud services vendors, negotiating contracts and service level agreements to optimize costs and performance.
- Architect and design resilient and scalable data center solutions, incorporating redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery mechanisms to ensure business continuity.
- Define and enforce infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across the data center environment.
- Conduct regular infrastructure assessments and capacity planning exercises, forecasting future resource requirements, and proactively addressing potential bottlenecks.
- Implement automation tools and processes to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring tasks, improving efficiency and reducing human error.
- Lead efforts to modernize legacy infrastructure systems, migrating workloads to cloud platforms or adopting hybrid cloud architectures for greater flexibility and agility.
- Establish and maintain documentation for infrastructure architecture, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures, facilitating knowledge sharing and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to implement security controls and measures, ensuring data protection and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements to meet evolving business needs.
- Evaluate cloud providers and services to determine the best fit for organizational needs and requirements.
- Architect and design cloud-based solutions for scalability, reliability, and security.
- Migrate appropriate workloads and applications to the cloud, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and data governance policies in cloud environments.
- Continuously assess and optimize cloud infrastructure and services to meet evolving business needs and performance requirements.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, recommending updates and adjustments to infrastructure strategies and architectures as needed.
