Job Summary
We are currently looking for a highly skilled and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on the company's financial performance, as well as implementing cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and report on the company's financial performance, including cost of goods sold, operational expenses, and variances from budgeted figures.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement through regular analysis of financial data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts.
- Prepare and submit government reports and tax filings related to cost accounting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Train and mentor junior staff members in cost accounting processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a cost accounting role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- CMA designation is a plus.
