Could you be the full-time Operations Director in Egypt we’re looking for?

Responsability :

  • Develop and manage the Operator Safety Case for the Monorail system
  • Manage safety systems and processes (internally and externally including the Alstom AZDP process)
  • Manage quality systems and processes together with QA
  • Monitor and report on safety performance and Investigate and analyse any safety incident. Ensures appropriate measures are implemented to prevent or minimize safety incidents.
  • Manage the safety risk assessments, mitigation actions and ensure working to procedures
  • Ensure compliance to legislative requirements
  • Develop the strategies, plans, safety standards, rules, processes and SOP for the Operations environment
  • Develop the business continuity plan in the event of disasters, incidents and failures
  • Define the Operations Department resource plan and continuously review the resource utilizations and productivity
  • Establish the relevant training processes, certification, content and plan to execute the training
  • Develop the operational risk assessment and mitigation actions
  • Update the Ops Plan to deliver the contractual obligations
  • Prepare and optimize the timetables to meet contractual obligations
  • Build strong internal and external relationships, displaying excellent abilities to advise, influence, negotiate and make presentations at all levels
  • To deliver the contractual performance targets (availability, etc..)
  • To lead and direct the Operations department profitably fulfilling the O&M Contract
  • Establish and implement performance objectives in line with the business’ performance criteria for all sections of the Operations department, ensuring that all employees understand these objectives.
  • Monitor and report on performance against these objectives and develop and implement remedial plans as required
  • To lead and direct the Operations Department in delivering the quality of service by ensuring safe operations of stations and trains
  • Implement and manage the execution of the safety standards, rules, processes and SOP
  • Continuously develop and refine rules, processes and SOP to improve the efficiency
  • Investigate and analyse operations’ failure trends in order to improve performance
  • Ensure there are disaster recovery plans in place
  • Ensure the Operational resources are trained in the recovery plans
  • In the case of a disaster, take control of the site and co-ordinate and execute the disaster recovery plan
  • In the case of an incident, manage the team to ensure the incident is resolved in the shortest possible time
  • For both disasters and incidents, ensure a thorough investigation is conducted and that reports detailing preventative measures are produced and implemented to prevent future occurrences
  • Ensure thorough reporting and communication of disasters and incidents (and progress thereof) to relevant internal and external role-players
  • Draft annual budget using departments’ financial performance information (operational expenses) and history and trends.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Submit budget to PD for review and sign-off
  • Analyse monthly departmental budgeting and accounting reports and identify and control variances
  • Take appropriate action to ensure adherence to budgets
  • Proactively seek to identify and manage risk

required Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience as an Operations Manager within a freight/metro/driverless railway environment. Exposure to APMs and Monorail systems will be advantageous.
