About The Role

Remitly is hiring for a Head of BD & Partnerships, South Asia to drive our growth and expansion through partnerships and business development initiatives within South Asia (Indian sub-continent). This role will report directly to the Global Head of BD and Strategic Partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fintech and payments space with experience or understanding of cross-border payments.

You Will

  • Business development strategy- in partnership with the Business Management team, Global Money Movement team and other cross-functional stakeholders, translate company objectives into a regional business development and partnerships strategy.
  • Implement strategy- identify and source major new commercial and strategic partnerships to support our growth in South Asia, including - but not limited to - disbursement partners and banking partnerships for treasury management.
  • Growth & optimisation - Identify opportunities for growth and optimisation using market analysis and insights, and rigorously balance short- and long-term results. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Business Management, Product, Treasury, Marketing, Finance, and Pricing to drive through recommendations.
  • Regulatory engagement- in partnership with our Regulatory Affairs team, build and maintain strong relationships with key regulators across the region
  • Market, competitor and customer insights- maintain a close watch on key market trends, and develop strong feedback loops with relevant cross-functional teams to enable swift actions
  • Lead and manage the ongoing partnerships/relationships across the disbursements network in the region, striving to broader and deepen commercial opportunities
  • Spearhead the identification, evaluation, and execution of new business opportunities
  • Leverage personal, company and industry networks/contacts to accelerate connections and the qualification process
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the progress and effectiveness of strategic initiatives, adapting strategies as needed to address changing market conditions and business dynamics.
  • Oversee negotiations, partnership agreements, contracts, and other aspects of business development and partnerships.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and market developments that may impact the company's partnerships and growth initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, enabling their professional development and the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives.

You Have

  • 10+ years of strategic partnerships / strategic business development experience in a dynamic and/or fast-growing fintech/money transfer business focused on the Indian sub-continental region
  • Deep understanding of the consumer payments and/or cross-border money transfer market and strong pan-regional relationship network within the Indian sub-continental region
  • Experience working in a global matrix organisation and in fast growth international environments
  • Grasp of drivers and mechanics for high transaction volume businesses. Strong business acumen and decision making skills
  • Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Extremely self-motivated and curious - desire to understand the Remitly customer, and translate these learnings into strategies.
  • Experienced in closing partnerships with both early stage, scale-up and mature companies
  • An action-oriented and strategic leader who is comfortable bringing structure and strategy across different opportunities and environments
  • Possess a solid strategic perspective, business judgment, and ROI focus; ability to support recommendations with compelling rationale, evidence and data
  • Engaging, highly credible presence and style; a clear and convincing communicator comfortable presenting to large and small groups, C-level executives
  • Proven team-player with a reputation for collaboration
  • Anticipates future market, business or product problems and sets the organization up to succeed in advance.
  • Experience and willingness to travel globally, and potentially extensively
  • BS/BA required, MBA highly desirable
