For one of our esteemed customers based in Sharjah, we are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant projects across the GCC, CIS, Europe, Asia, and Pacific regions. JOB SUMMARY
- Communicate with other departments to ensure all documentation required is included within the tender submission.
- Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities.
- Prepare construction budgets by studying plans, updating specifications, and identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
- Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating prices.
- Maintain cost keys and price masters by updating information.
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Prepare draft tender documents to ensure all systems and components of the tender are included.
- Interpret and review system drawings to identify any differences from tender requirements and raise queries against the specification.
- Follow company tendering processes and procedures to ensure all aspects of tenders meet the relevant discipline codes and standards.
- Review design outputs for compliance with contractual requirements.
- Gather opinions from the project and fabrication teams on engineering details to prepare final controlled tender documents.
- Assess the impact of design changes and revisions due to client instructions.
- Ensure project outputs meet the requirements of codes and specifications.
- Handle the submission of various tenders, ensuring all formalities are completed.
- Maintain quality service by following organizational standards.
- Maintain continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist the Estimating Manager in all financial and contractual aspects of the project during all design stages.
- Prepare BOQs and Preamble for all types of Method of Measurement and experience with all contract types and preparation—remeasure, LS, EPC.
- Liaise with the team to ensure prompt submittal and completeness of BOQs and estimates, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are maintained.
- Assist in reviewing, negotiating, and preparing claim settlements with the client and the Engineer.
- Participate in the auditing and checking of measurements of completed work from QS/Estimators and provide corrective actions to the team.
- Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of Contractor claim entitlements for review and issuance.
- Participate in preparing all stages of estimates with all supporting documentation.
- Advise QS/Estimators on measurement procedures and calculating interim and final quantities.
- Evaluate unit rates for new work items and present them to the Estimating Manager for review with supporting documents.
- Assist in the preparation of variation engineering proposals and reports.
- Provide advice on contractual matters related to financial issues.
- Ensure the completeness and validity of all contractual requirements.
- Participate in all commercial/estimation presentations and meetings with the client.
- Maintain and streamline all cost and quantity records.
- Evaluate unit rates for new work items and present them to the Project Manager.
- Participate in recording and monitoring day work details and processes.
- Prepare variation orders.
- Participate in evaluating and recommending Contractor claim entitlements for review and issuance by the Operations Manager.
- Monitor the contractor’s resource allocation.
- Prepare financial statements for monthly reports.
- Audit payments to Contractors.
- Check and record measurements of completed work.
- Monitor contracts' final cost estimates.
- Participate in preparing the Final Account with all supporting documentation.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits.
- Visit ongoing sites, prepare scopes of work, and prepare BOQs for client approval.
- Maintain a cost database by entering and backing up data.
