We are seeking a skilled Technical/Materials Engineer to join our client's team in Sharjah, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for understanding client requirements, creating technical proposals, and preparing high-quality submittals. The role involves collaborating cross-functionally to ensure seamless preparation of technical documents such as technical submittals, material submittals, warranties, and addressing consultants’ comments. You will be responsible for continuously updating licenses, certificates, and engineering documentation while providing technical support to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document Control & Submittals:
    • Prepare pre-qualification submittals, material submittals, and technical documents.
    • Tag, organize, and follow up on project samples and materials from suppliers.
    • Update new datasheets, third-party tests, test reports, and other relevant materials.
    • Ensure continuous updates to the shared engineering folder with project approvals, specifications, and other vital documents.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Collaborate with project managers to develop project timelines and plans.
    • Review project specifications, ensuring they comply with industry standards and regulations.
    • Develop and review method statements for various construction activities.
    • Analyze material submittals to ensure they meet project requirements.
    • Prepare compliance statements and documentation for regulatory and authority approvals.
  • Site Inspections & Quality Control:
    • Conduct site inspections to assess construction progress, quality, and adherence to specifications.
    • Prepare detailed inspection reports and provide recommendations for any discrepancies.
    • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and tracking resolutions.
  • Client Support & Coordination:
    • Provide telephone and in-person technical support for clients requiring immediate assistance.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
    • Ensure the handover of approved materials to project teams, coordinating with all relevant parties.
  • Licenses & Certification Management:
    • Ensure continuous renewal and compliance with authorities like ADCE, DEWA, ADCO, and others.
    • Manage and update vendor lists as required for various projects.
  • Proposal & Tender Management:
    • Assist in the preparation of technical submittals, commercial submittals, tender documents, and project registration with both public and private sectors.
    • Develop and maintain technical standards and specifications for steel fabrication projects in line with local and international standards.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in preparing pre-qualification and material submittals.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in MS/SS material.
    • Ability to read, write, and understand technical documents in English.
  • Qualifications:
    • Degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in developing technical standards, compliance documentation, and construction material submittals.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to collaborate effectively with different teams.
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Problem-solving mindset, able to address and resolve technical issues on-site.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
