The American University in the Emirates invites MLIS Master's Holder candidates to apply for the open position of Library Clerk.
Job Purpose
The Library Clerk is responsible for Stack maintenance, attending circulation counter, technical assistance, documentation.
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor degree in business administration from an accredited university
Experience
- 1-3 years of professional experience; Experience in academic library is required.
- Working knowledge of Integrated Library Management System.
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Attending Circulation Counter - Check-in, check-out, reservation
- User records - Enter and update the user profile in the systems
- Technical processing of new arrivals including books, CDs/DVDs, etc.
- Sort books, publications, and other items to established procedure and return them to shelves accordingly
- Locate library materials for regulars and assist them for their library needs
- Attend routine inquiries and refer customers in need of professional assistance to library manager
- Follow-up as necessary with full time and part time faculty, students and staff on the books to be returned at the end of the semester.
- Inspect returned books for condition and due-dates and mark applicable fines if any
- Emptying book drops daily, shifting collections as necessary, checking in returned materials, processing new shipments, repairing damaged materials, and other related tasks.
- Identify and secure funding from various sources to support the University mission in line with the university advancement and fundraising plan.
- Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring their continued engagement and support for the institution.
- Perform any duties as assigned by the superiors.
