Overview

V2X is looking for a Navy certified Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) to join the Maritime Services, Engineering, Logistics and Planning team located in Alexandria, Egypt.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

Conduct condition based maintenance assessment of Diesel Engines
  • Provide technical assistance, assessments/inspections as required
  • Assist ships-force in trouble shooting and provide recommended corrective actions
  • Assist with equipment grooms
  • Observe/conduct cold/hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out of specification readings or settings
  • Conduct oversight of repairs being conducted to engines/equipment for technical completion and standards on-board ships or shipyards.
  • Provide ships-force with on-the-job training during the assessment/repairs of equipment
  • Assist with the identification of parts/material needed to return equipment to Manufactures specifications
  • Provide written briefs and reports as required
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications

    Education/Certifications Certified Navy Diesel Engine Inspector
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and a current passport with at least 2 years prior to expiration after arrival in Egypt.
  • Experience
  • 20 years of US Navy or US Coast Guard experience
  • Of which at least 5 years of diesel engine inspection experience
  • Prior shipboard experience
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • A graduate of US Navy Engineman school
  • Have Planner/Estimator experience in development of mechanical and electrical work packages
  • Have previous FMS experience
  • Must be willing to travel overseas and work with foreign navies
  • Certified Master Training Specialist
  • Skills
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of know of Caterpillar, Fairbanks Morse, Isotta Fraschini and Paxman Diesel Engines
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manages a department of up to 10 employees through section leads direct reports. Overall general accounting responsibility for the program.
  • Working Conditions
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with adverse conditions (i.e., hot, dry, environment with average temperatures of 95 degrees weather.)
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Standard shipboard environment which could be outside or inside depending on repair. Office working environment could require prolonged sitting and extensive keyboard and computer operation during longlines research.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to carry 25lbs continuously and up to 60lbs on occasion. Ability to work on masts, climb up and down ladders as well work on shipboard environment.
  • Light work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
