Job Purpose: We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Manager Operations Services (Emirates Airport Services) to join our Airport Operations Team, reporting directly to the VP of Ramp Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for driving business planning and operational management across key Emirates Airport Services functional areas, including Emirates Ground Dispatch (for Dubai), Hub Control Centre (for Dubai), and Centralised Load Control (network-wide). You will ensure the efficient delivery of these critical services, playing a pivotal role in achieving safe, secure, and on-time flight performance with maximum payload uplift. Additionally, you will oversee the management of the Load Control function, including the service level agreement with dnata, ensuring seamless collaboration and high standards across the board.
In this role, you will:
- In collaboration with Dubai Airports, define and develop the stand infrastructure roadmap so that we maintain the highest level of operational stand availability whilst supporting ongoing development of Dubai international airport. Drive the Airport Collaborative Decision Making system (ACDM) initiative from an Emirates operational perspective alongside external vendors, Dubai Airports and Air Traffic Control (DANS).
- Manage the regular production of weight and balance documents (such as loading instructions and trim sheets), within parameters set by equipment manufacturers/IATA, with the objective of maintaining aircraft safety as well as maximising commercial load. Ensure the preparation of weight and balance manuals for all new Emirates aircraft types, arranging for the distribution of these manuals across the network before the first flight.
- Manage the ongoing implementation of automated loading reconciliation system network wide through tight control of systems, processes/procedures and staff training, including sound planning for station trials and achieving a consistently high standard of operational results during each of the stations going-live.
- Effectively manage the Service Level Agreement (SLA) with dnata for CLC, relating to Emirates departures worldwide. For this purpose, monitor performance against the operational metrics of safety, regulatory requirements, payload maximisation, quality and timeliness of service. In the case of non CLC stations, recommend improvements to SLA with relevant ground handlers through the Senior Regional Managers.
- Through the 24x7 EK CLC team located in the NCC, ensure smooth load control operations for all Emirates diversions, as well as charter flights globally. Also, manage the SLA with dnata through regularly conducted quality audits and other specialist operational support. Service failures, where impactful, must be critically analysed and immediate corrective action taken.
- Lead the Emirates Hub Control Centre (HCC) located at NCC, with the key objective of maximising connectivity of payload through the Hub, whilst not compromising the On-Time Performance. Delivers improvements to the communication and decision making process for passenger & baggage connections when flights are behind schedule or during disruptions.
- Responsible for maximising the number of EK departing and arriving flights on to contact parking stands, ensuring aircraft tactical tow planning to/from remote staging stands delivers this objective. Accountable for publishing seasonal stand plans through to the day of operations. Ensure that the Emirates long term stand planning interests are served through representing the Corporate at appropriate airport facility planning forums.
- Manage Emirates Ground Dispatch for the Hub, so that flight safety and On Time Departure are consistently achieved and payload uplift is optimised. Support and empower the team to make decisions that will optimise each EK flight departure.
- In all functional areas for which responsible, track competitor activity as part of an ongoing process to benchmark against the best airlines. Research process innovations and IT technologies, which if implemented, will create operational efficiencies and limit the need for additional human resource.
- Responsible for ensuring across all functionalities, the highest standards of safety and security are maintained in line with local legislation and international standards. Maintains effective communication and co-operation with all airport departments such as dnata and Dubai Airports for stand planning and operational needs during disruptions. Develop the managerial skills of the Controllers and Airport Services Officers (HCC) through tailor made development plans, training and empowerment to make each unit more self-sufficient. Manage operational engagement standards, manpower availability and maximum utilisation of human resources through rostering efficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- A completed Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in Airport Operations or Ground Operations
- Airport Handling Procedures - Must possess detailed knowledge in areas of operations services and movement control, baggage services, ramp operations, technical services, load control and data systems/communication.
- Must be fully conversant with airline and ground safety, emergency and accident procedures at Dubai International Airport and also aware of internationally recognised standards (e.g. JAR, FAA, DGCA etc).
- Must be familiar with terminal radar systems, VHF and radio communications, airport communication systems such as CORE, RMA, BRS, AGSS, FIDS, QUINTIQ, ZAFIRE
- Must have a working knowledge of flight planning procedures, airline MET requirements and aviation terminology.
