Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is a luxurious beachside resort located on the West Crescent of the iconic Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. The interior of the resort is inspired by the ancient palaces of the Ottoman Era and features hand-painted finishings, artworks and stunning murals influenced by the Golden Age of the Ottoman Empire.
The resort features 405 rooms and suites, 38 Royal Villas, and the award-winning Talise Ottoman Spa, one of the largest and most luxurious spas in the Middle East. Amenities include Sinbad’s Kids Club with a splash park, the entertainment venue Zabeel Theatre, motorised and non-motorised water sports by the pristine private beach, and a curated selection of eleven distinct restaurants & lounges, offering a myriad of culinary experiences.
About the Job
An opportunity has arisen for a Director to join our Spa team in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:
- Drive the commercial performance across the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray’s Wellbeing and Spa offerings.
- Demonstrate expertise in the commercial elements and be responsible for running an extensive P&L across Spa, Retail, Membership, and Well-being programs.
- Ensure a new spa/wellness experience development to maintain innovation and originality.
- Strategically direct the progress and performance of the business through sales and marketing.
- Take ownership and responsibility for financial growth and development and controlled performance, in order to ensure sustainability.
- Consistently review wellness treatment menus and programmes to ensure the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray wellness offering is the best in the market.
- Identify new and innovative wellness offerings that will enhance guest experience and drive revenue.
- Maximise profit through driving revenues and controlling costs within the wellness operation.
- Direct the Talise Ottoman Spa team to achieve success where everyone contributes.
- Produce a detailed and objective monthly report in order to track all aspects of the business and colleagues’ performance.
- Ensure that the colleagues participate in any scheduled training or development programs that may develop colleagues or improve departmental standards.
- Ensure the correct scheduling of colleagues in order to maintain standards of service.
- Assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and development.
- Provide management with creative ideas to project and enhance the image of the hotel and the spa.
- Ensure that colleagues strictly enforce all safety rules, emergency procedures and fire prevention regulations
- Monitor and analyse the products and services of competitive spas, to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Manage and assess the team performance and direct the team in achieving success.
- Reviews guest feedback, Medallia, Mystery Shopper results and plan and implement corrective action if needed
- Overseeing the guest satisfaction scores and monitoring guest feedback, ensuring that training initiatives are appropriately addressed, and improving the quality of services.
- Oversees the retail outlets located in the hotel ensuring high delivery of standards to the guests
- Ensures that the spa team adheres to all hotel and company standards, Business conduct and ethics, policies and procedures including Health, Hygiene & Safety and maintains confidentiality for all guests and colleagues.
- Perform any other duties that management may reasonably require.
- Set and monitor KPIs for the spa business, individual team members.
- Monitor the spa business in regard to revenue management and effectively forecast business trends and revenue streams
- Develop wellness programs and menu from brand standard guidelines
- Recruit suitable wellness professionals to suit location and wellness programs
- Develop and implement marketing and sales plans for wellness services
- Source equipment for diagnostics and wellness services
- Source appropriate retail items
- Develop appropriate licensing and government approvals for services
- Ensure wellness professionals maintain current licences and continued education.
- Liaise with media for wellness articles and content
- Maintain knowledge of competitors, promotions, therapies, and product pricing. Devise strategies to adapt and cater to transforming market needs in luxury segment in line with Jumeirah’s philosophy.
About You
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position, managing Spa and wellness brand or group of facilities within the international luxury hospitality industry.
- Proven experience in innovating and refreshing Spa and wellness programs.
- Experience with integrated wellness approaches/working models.
- Spa and Wellness brand and marketing experience.
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality or similar fields
- Relevant diploma in Hospitality or Spa Management
