Job Title: Senior Architect

Job Description:

The Senior Architect in the Architecture and Urban - Design and Research Excellence Center (ARU-DREC) will lead a junior architect team and fulfil the following tasks:

  • Discussing the objectives, requirements and budgets of a project.
  • Consulting with other professionals about the design of an environment.
  • Develop and present creative and technically sound architectural concepts that align with project goals, client expectations, and industry standards.
  • Producing detailed working drawings and specifications.
  • Specifying the nature and quality of materials required.
  • Preparing applications for planning and building control department.
  • Preparing tender documents for contracts.
  • Projects managing and helping to coordinate the work of contractors.
  • Controlling a project from start to finish.
  • Acting as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, laborers and operatives.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of design deliverables, drawings and quantities to ensure high-quality, accurate calculations, and innovative solutions as well as to ensure that each drawing has been coordinated between all disciplines.
  • Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications
  • Negotiating prices for materials and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.
  • Mentor and guide different teams simultaneously through their different stages.
  • Utilize design software and tools effectively to communicate design concepts
  • Collaborate efficiently with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, urban designers, and landscape architects.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
  • Overseeing documentation, managing project files, contributing to the efficient execution of tasks.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, monitoring to meet deadlines.
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties; problems and issues that arise during construction; and other problems that may arise.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from a reputable university.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and urban design principles and practices.
  • Extensive expertise in architectural standards and codes.
  • Strong technical background and proven expertise in coordinating with various disciplines.
  • Work experiences in different environments.
  • Excellent command of design tools & Software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, or similar tools; Revit is a must.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power point, InDesign….).
  • Excellent technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage positively within the team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent command of English language.

The Junior Architect In The Architecture And Urban - Design And Research Excellence Center (ARU-DREC) Will Work Collaboratively Within a Team Of Junior Architects And Fulfil The Following Tasks:

  • Conduct desk research and analysis.
  • Assist in conducting data collection.
  • Prepare presentations for different project phases and outputs.
  • Prepare detail and working drawings for various types of design projects.
  • Participate in the review and preparing specifications.
  • Compiles data for architectural plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, etc.
  • Prepare as-built plans for existing buildings.
  • Assist in conducting preliminary studies of proposed projects to obtain information as to space and design requirements, obtaining measurements and making sketches preliminary to the preparation of drawings.
  • Prepare scale drawing of details required.
  • Prepare design development drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of “record” drawings on completion of construction.
  • Assist in developing and/or coordinating detailed working drawings and specifications.
  • Provide support to architects and management staff.
  • Assist in writing technical reports.
  • Participate in attending and documenting meetings and events as required.
  • Collaborate with other team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

  • Good understanding of architectural and urban design principles and practices.
  • Good knowledge of architectural standards and codes.
