Our Dubai-based client, a market leading Construction business is on the lookout for an Accountant to join their growing team in Dubai.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Create project accounts in the accounting system.
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Maintaining all the data and transaction in Focus/ Zoho
  • Compute, Prepare, Filing of VAT
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, including payroll and cashflow
  • Authorize access to project accounts
  • Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
  • Bookkeep necessary bills and invoices
  • Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
  • Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project
  • Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
  • Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
  • Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings
  • Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
  • Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transaction from sales contract to unloading of goods
  • Create or approve all project-related billings to customers
  • Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
  • Respond to requests for more detail from customers
  • Approve the write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
  • Ensure to have proper records and filing system

Requirements:

  • Proven recent experience in Accounting within UAE Construction Sector
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with accounting software - Focus/ Zoho
  • IFRS Standards Experience
  • Advanced MS Excel skills - Vlookups and pivot table
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical and communication skills.
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree (Additional certification is a plus (CPA or CMA)
