Our Dubai-based client, a market leading Construction business is on the lookout for an Accountant to join their growing team in Dubai.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Create project accounts in the accounting system.
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
- Maintaining all the data and transaction in Focus/ Zoho
- Compute, Prepare, Filing of VAT
- Strong knowledge of financial management, including payroll and cashflow
- Authorize access to project accounts
- Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
- Bookkeep necessary bills and invoices
- Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
- Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project
- Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
- Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
- Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
- Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings
- Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
- Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transaction from sales contract to unloading of goods
- Create or approve all project-related billings to customers
- Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
- Respond to requests for more detail from customers
- Approve the write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers
- Close out project accounts upon project completion
- Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
- Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
- Ensure to have proper records and filing system
- Proven recent experience in Accounting within UAE Construction Sector
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounting software - Focus/ Zoho
- IFRS Standards Experience
- Advanced MS Excel skills - Vlookups and pivot table
- Experience with general ledger functions
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical and communication skills.
- Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree (Additional certification is a plus (CPA or CMA)
