Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team in a dynamic media company. This role is crucial in managing and overseeing the accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, media-centric environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Management:
- Oversee and manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment disbursement, and reconciliation.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices while adhering to company policies and payment terms.
- Review and approve invoices for proper authorization and coding.
Vendor Relations:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Manage vendor setup and maintain accurate vendor records.
Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to accounts payable.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and audits.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounts payable function and implement best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation for accounts payable processes and procedures.
Compliance and Control:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting regulations.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and train junior accounts payable staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Supervise and review the work of accounts payable clerks to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Special Projects:
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, including system upgrades and process enhancements.
Key Skills responsibilities:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience in the media or entertainment industry is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
