Job Summary
A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, tea, and other beverages, as well as food items, while providing excellent customer service. The role requires attention to detail, a passion for coffee, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Beverages:
- Brew coffee, espresso, and tea according to company recipes and standards.
- Create specialty drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, and iced beverages.
- Handle beverage equipment, including espresso machines and grinders.
Customer Service:
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take and process orders accurately and efficiently.
- Address customer questions and complaints, ensuring satisfaction.
Food Preparation:
- Prepare and serve pastries, sandwiches, and other food items, if applicable.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Maintain Cleanliness:
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and customer areas regularly.
- Restock supplies, including coffee beans, cups, syrups, and other items.
Cash Handling:
- Process payments, handle cash, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Maintain accurate cash drawer records.
Inventory and Stocking:
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock shortages.
- Assist in receiving deliveries and organizing stock areas.
Qualifications And Skills
Experience: Previous experience as a barista or in a café environment is preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and equipment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
