The General Technician will assist the Shift Supervisor to manage the shift operations. He or she is responsible for the upkeep of the hotel or business office and to to complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures since he/she is a skilled in a variety of areas including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems. He/She will continually work towards and support the improvement of engineering services to guests, other departments, and fellow staffs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance of hotel systems and equipment such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, and effectively diagnosing and repairing issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, malfunctioning appliances, etc.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance work complies with safety standards and regulations. This includes fire safety, health and safety codes, and any relevant building codes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting with renovation and construction projects as needed, including basic carpentry, painting, and other tasks to support the upkeep and improvement of the hotel.
  • Being available for on-call duty and responding to emergency maintenance situations outside of regular working hours, such as power outages or severe weather incidents.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment service history.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • A formal qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a luxury hotel environment.
  • Hotel Pre-opening experience or renovation experience is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as General Technician for 2 years.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment, plant equipment or other related commercial equipment is highly desirable
  • Able to read blueprints or cad drawings
  • Have strong knowledge of technical aspects in mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc.
