Job Title: Overhead Catenary Systems Design Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: The Overhead Catenary Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of overhead catenary systems (OCS) for metro rail projects. This role requires an understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, as well as experience in transit system design. The ideal candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable power delivery to rail vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop overhead catenary systems, including the selection of materials and components to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to assess system performance, including load analysis, thermal effects, and electromagnetic compatibility.
• Collaborate with civil and structural engineers to integrate OCS designs into overall transportation infrastructure.
• Conduct site assessments and inspections to validate design assumptions and ensure proper installation practices.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to specify equipment and materials, ensuring quality and timeliness of delivery.
• Participate in project meetings, presenting design concepts and providing updates on project progress and challenges.
• Support project management with scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation related to OCS designs.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, standards, and best practices in all design and installation processes.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to overhead catenary systems.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the design of overhead catenary systems or similar transportation infrastructure.
• Proficient in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, load calculations, and mechanical principles related to OCS.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AREMA, IEEE, or local standards).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
