Job Description Summary The Regional Customs Leader will work with the Customs and Compliance team to secure the efficiency, competence and compliance of the import and export activities for Grid Solutions within the APAC or MEA region and secures the collaboration and integration of the operations with individual country operations within the Region Job Description

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Review, Modify & Implement strategy for Customs operations in the region, aligned with Grid Customs organization and Customs Enterprise Standard
  • Get To Know and keep up to date Customs landscape within region.
  • Identify Customs risks areas with support of Customs Compliance and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks
  • Get To Know and keep up to date Business contacts to gather operational and technical information including to support Import and Export activities and HS classification process
  • Supervise & defend key projects to improve customs processes between destinations.
  • Execute Business level SOWs in accordance with Sourcing Policy and MSA framework with Customs Agents and BPOs.
  • Review the customs processes, implement & update the SOPs with the business.
  • Work with approved agents to support daily customs clearances and own shipment issue resolution
  • Manage operational and tactical agent performance, Participate in Business operations reviews with agents to address their areas of concern.
  • Manage gathering, apply and monitor Import License requirements with the business.
  • Ensure there are trained personnel supporting the Customs activities in the region
  • Prepare periodic reports and metrics on primary KPIs (volume, cycle time, FPY, duty spend, entered value) quality, costs, opportunities, risks, achievements
  • Gather customs data into the applicable business tools
  • Own performance review with businesses to implement the improvements and align on savings opportunities.
  • Manage the relationship with Local Customs authorities and support with internal and external audits/consultations
  • Ensure the pre-declaration review is performed including confirmation that valuation, classification, country of origin and any applicable special program documentation is complete before an import or export occurs
  • Implement audit corrective action plans
  • Manage special programs opportunities linked to exemption/reduction/suspension of customs taxes.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of import/export regulation in the countries within the region.
  • Advanced experience in Customs processes
  • Languages MEA: English, Arabic
  • Languages APAC: English
