As a Yard Operator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations within the yard, including the movement and management of containers and cargo. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help maintain our high operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Guide RO/RO drivers in placing vehicles, trailers, and containers in the designated slots within the yard.
- Record gate-in timestamps and ensure cargo is stored in compliance with the yard plan.
- Issue Equipment Interchange Reports (EIR) upon receiving or delivering equipment either from the gate or vessel.
- Ensure EIRs are accurately filled out and include all relevant details such as timestamps and condition reports.
- Move cargo from the storage yard to the designated loading or inspection areas as per the yard planner’s instructions.
- Assist in repositioning cargo for customs inspections, X-rays, or special handling requirements.
- Ensure safe handling and movement of cargo, adhering to terminal safety protocols.
- Report any operational issues or safety hazards to the yard planner or terminal management.
- Keep track of cargo in the yard and report discrepancies between physical and recorded data.
- Support inventory audits and ensure timely reporting of yard capacity.
- Perform basic maintenance checks on yard equipment (e.g., forklifts, reach stackers) to ensure operational readiness.
- Bachelor’s degree
- From 3-6 years of experience in same position
- Excellent communication & Problem-solving skills
