Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookstore Keeper to manage the day-to-day operations of our school bookstore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory, assisting students, parents, and staff with their purchases, and ensuring the smooth operation of the bookstore. This role requires excellent customer service skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels of textbooks, uniforms, stationery, and other school supplies. Conduct regular stock checks and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Procurement: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to order books, uniforms, and educational materials, ensuring quality and compliance with curriculum standards.
  • Sales and Customer Service: Assist students, parents, and staff with purchases, including processing payments, handling inquiries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all sales, transactions, and inventory. Ensure financial and inventory reports are regularly updated.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with school administration and teaching staff to ensure that all required materials are available for academic purposes.
  • Store Maintenance: Keep the bookstore clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Manage Returns and Exchanges: Process and handle customer returns and exchanges according to school policies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all operations are in line with UAE regulations, including VAT compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or diploma in business or a related field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in retail or inventory management, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including MS Office and inventory management software.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the UAE education system and Ministry-approved textbooks is a plus.
