Position Overview

The Applications Engineer for Audio Systems will be responsible for designing, tuning, and commissioning audio systems for diverse environments, such as auditoriums, multipurpose halls, houses of worship, and entertainment venues. This role requires a strong foundation in acoustic analysis, system tuning, and DSP programming. The engineer will also deliver technical support, training, and post-installation assistance, ensuring the systems perform optimally and meet client expectations.


Key Responsibilities


Audio System Design and Documentation:

  • Interpret and utilize AutoCAD architectural and interior drawings to develop audio system designs aligned with project specifications.
  • Employ simulation tools like EASE to model and optimize acoustics based on the venue’s unique requirements.
  • Create detailed schematics and layout drawings that specify digital mixers, signal processors, and other necessary components.


System Tuning and DSP Programming:

  • Perform on-site system tuning using tools like SMAART for accurate acoustic adjustments and sound optimization.
  • Program and configure DSP units to match room acoustics and the specific needs of each venue.
  • Configure digital mixers and signal processors, addressing live and installed sound scenarios, and troubleshoot any issues to ensure optimal system performance.


Installation, Rigging, and Commissioning:

  • Oversee system installations and ensure audio equipment is rigged and installed safely according to industry standards. Rigging certifications are highly valued.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and commissioning to verify system functionality and alignment with design specifications.
  • Document final system configurations and provide as-built documentation for client records.


Technical Support and Training:

  • Deliver training sessions for end-users, ensuring they understand the system operations and maintenance.
  • Offer technical support for Distributed Public Address Systems (Voice Communication) when applicable, enhancing client setups with versatile audio capabilities.
  • Produce user guides and reference materials for clients and end-users to facilitate long-term system management.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in audio system design, tuning, and commissioning, especially in live and installed sound environments.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, with a strong ability to interpret and incorporate architectural drawings.
  • Proficiency in tools like SMAART and EASE for system tuning and acoustic modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with digital mixers, DSP units, and other signal processing equipment.
  • Familiarity with rigging for audio installations; rigging certifications are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Public Address Systems (voice communication systems) is a plus.
  • Certifications: Rigging certifications are beneficial. CTS or equivalent certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and capable of both independent work and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


Location, Work Hours, and Compensation
  • Location: Dubai, UAE
  • Working Hours: Full-time; Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with occasional site visits outside of standard hours as needed.
