Role Summary

The role will be held by an academic and/or practitioner who has in-depth knowledge of the subjects outlined below and can actively contribute to knowledge transfer within their programme and university.

Job Purpose

To conduct and contribute to learning, teaching, and knowledge transfer to benefit students, the School, the University and the wider community.

Main responsibilities

Learning and teaching

  • Deliver high-quality teaching to students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Identify best and innovative practices in learning and teaching and build them into personal teaching practice.
  • Ensure that personal research, knowledge and/or experience of the field inform personal teaching practice.
  • Contribute actively to initiatives that identify new and best practices in teaching and learning and promote them across the faculty and institution.
  • Enhance student experience and outcomes.
  • Provide academic advice and counselling.
  • Liaise closely with teaching, technical, and administrative staff as appropriate to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Proficient in all stages of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
  • Knowledge of integrating project management practices with broader organizational strategies and business objectives.
  • Expertise in using project management tools for scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and quality control across project phases.
  • Ability to apply strategic methodologies for project selection and portfolio management.
  • Proven ability to utilize data visualization, statistical methods, and KPI dashboards for effective project management and decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience in applying Agile and Lean approaches to enhance project efficiency and drive successful outcomes.

Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience in successfully managing projects
  • Experience applying project management methodologies to real-world business challenges.
  • Proficient in using and teaching project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Primavera).
  • Familiarity with specialized software for resource planning, risk analysis, and decision-making.
  • Proven track record in attracting research and knowledge transfer funding.
  • Success in supervising and managing research, with experience in mentoring postgraduate or doctoral students.
  • Evidence of attracting research grants and funding in project management.
  • Experience teaching project management at higher education institutions with industry-focused applications.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.
