The position

Background

The Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is an Egyptian non-profit organization established in 1991 under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. OHF is the implementation agency for the Aga Khan Foundation Egypt and is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network of organizations and was founded by Om Habibeh Mohamed Shah Aga Khan to contribute to and support local communities in the governorate of Aswan in areas including health care, education, and providing income for deprived communities through long-term development activities.

OHF implements a UNICEF funded project which is a collaborative and sustainable approach to support learning continuity for Sudanese school age children in Aswan Government. The project covers six districts in Aswan: Aswan City, Abu Simbel, Edfu, Daraw, Kom Ombo, and Nasr El Nuba.

Since April 2023, a total of 190,000 people, including 40% children, have crossed the borders from Sudan to Egypt. Most of the influx of refugees are displaced Sudanese persons and over 5000 from third-country nationals (TCNs). Once in Egypt, the displaced are moving towards Aswan, Greater Cairo, Alexandria, and other cities where many have extended families and existing community support networks.

The Project’s aim is to ensure that displaced children are provided with access to education through preparation of learning spaces with educational material/equipment to accommodate different learning modalities that align with children's needs, capacity building of teachers to implement the learning recovery programme, through catch-up programs to help children get back on track with their education as well as to a form of normalcy. It is also important to provide psychosocial support to help children cope with the trauma of exposure to violence and stress of displacement. Therefore, extracurricular, and social cohesion interventions will be designed and implemented to support children integration into the new communities.

Responsibilties

Documentation and Record Management:

  • Ensure the proper documentation of project activities, meetings, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Maintain organized records of all documents and reports, both physical and digital, ensuring easy accessibility.
  • Coordinate with field teams to collect accurate and timely data on project activities.

Reporting:

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for internal use, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Consolidate data and information from various departments to create comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.
  • Assist in creating annual reports summarizing key achievements, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.

Communications

  • Participate in the social mobilization sessions that increase the enrolment of the targeted beneficiaries in different UNICEF activities.
  • Reach out to media representatives, ensuring high visibility of the program, providing adequate content, statements, press releases etc.
  • Develop content and advertising materials as appropriate.
  • Work with relevant vendors (photographers, designers, etc.) to produce the advertising materials.

Social Media

  • Create and implement social media campaigns aiming at generating traffic and outreaching the targeted group.
  • Generate and lead interactions on social media and act as the online community manager for UNICEF social media platforms.
  • Plan with the different staff which stories to produce, and which projects to highlight in social media.

The requirements

Education

REQUIRED QULAIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as: education, social work, child development, marketing, communication.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of experience in the field of ECD.
  • Experience in working with refugees.
  • Experience in working with children, and people with disabilities.
  • At least 2-3 years relevant experience working in community projects.

Competencies

  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good English and Arabic language skills: oral and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handling multiple tasks, demands and deadlines with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity, commitment, and dedication.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hybrid work that is a blend of in-office and field visits.
