About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specializing in developing, improving, and disseminating development methodologies in youth and community development.
Based in Cairo, Etijah’s primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development, and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute to building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Program Background
The “Youth Empowerment and Raising Awareness for Population Issues (PACs)” program, established in 2015 in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) and funded by UNFPA, aims to support Egypt’s 2030 sustainable development goals by addressing critical population issues. Recognizing the pivotal role of youth as the largest demographic group, this program focuses on empowering them with knowledge on sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence (GBV), family planning (FP), female genital mutilation (FGM), and child marriage (CM).
The program operates nationwide, reaching all 27 governorates and working through youth centres to engage vulnerable groups, particularly in rural areas, who may not otherwise have access to such knowledge. Volunteers and trainers who deliver these awareness sessions and performances often encounter beneficiaries who have experienced trauma related to these sensitive issues. To safeguard their well-being, we aim to provide targeted training and self-protection.
