Structural Steelworks Draftsman (Industrial Automation)in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
What are my responsibilities?
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project details and conditions.
- Estimate drafting time for various steelwork types.
- Conduct manual take-offs based on preliminary information.
- Perform surveys for existing civil works to inform modelling.
- Prepare 3D steelwork modeling using professional software (e.g., Revit, Tekla Structures).
- Develop layouts and shop drawings from 3D models using AutoCAD (2D).
- Plan and coordinate steelwork activities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Generate fabrication and installation documents using 3D/2D software.
- Perform final quantity take-offs based on the latest 3D models.
- Provide efficient solutions for modifications with minimal time and cost impact.
- Ensure adherence to quality guidelines and processes.
- Assess claims and variation orders.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, environmental, and quality standards.
What do I need to qualify for the role?
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in the steelworks field, with 3D/2D drafting expertise.
- Experience with 2D and 3D detailing software (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures).
- Microsoft Office Skills: Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with material flow systems (e.g., airport baggage or cargo handling systems) is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong problem diagnosis and analytical thinking.
- Structured, methodical, and flexible in managing workload.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, willingness to train and share knowledge.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate past contributions to system design and successful contract awards.
