Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of English & Huminites to join our team for the next academic year starting from September 2025

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver English lessons based on the school’s curriculum.
  • Teach reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar in an engaging, student-centered way.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the needs of all learners (e.g., visual aids, storytelling, games, and technology
  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment that fosters student engagement and participation.
  • Develop and implement classroom routines and procedures that encourage respect, responsibility, and cooperation.
  • Focus on the development of reading skills through phonics, comprehension strategies, and exposure to a wide range of texts.
  • Teach writing skills, including sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, and paragraph formation.
  • Organize events like class plays, poetry readings, or book fairs to engage students and parents in the learning process.

Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field. A teaching certification or qualification in primary education is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching English to primary-aged children is required .
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of primary English curriculum and language development strategies.
    • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons that foster a love for language.
    • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
    • Proficiency in using technology and educational resources to enhance learning.
The successful applicant will have:

  • A passion for providing outstanding teaching and driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Teachers enjoy an outstanding school environment in which to deliver a dynamic and creative curriculum to motivated students.
  • A certified teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent.
  • Experience of teaching in a UK curriculum school.
