Job Description

  • To assist the Physician in the clinic, including accessing, adding, and modifying the patient’s medical records under the physician’s supervision.
  • Request the necessary laboratory investigation for the patient based on physician orders.
  • Support the clinical team by collecting medical reports from various departments.
  • Assist in the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of the Physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrate competence in the provision of care to meet the needs of patients while promoting dignity, privacy, and respect.
  • Perform basic care under the direction of the Physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Assist patients, who are able, toward independence and activity under the direction of the Physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Provide patient comfort prior to physician assessment by utilizing resources and materials and transporting patients for fetal medicine if required.
  • Assist with patient transfer to other departments.
  • Transport patient records between departments.
  • Support registered nursing staff and ward clerks in clerical, administrative, and reception duties in the ward.
  • Assist in the maintenance of stocks and non-medical supplies.
  • Develop and utilize good communication skills, and receive and pass on telephone messages.
  • Use aids and equipment supplied for patients correctly and report needs and defects to the Registered Nurse/Midwife in charge.
  • Cover the duties of the ward clerk in their absence.
  • Inform the Registered Nurse/Midwife in charge of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Liaise with the Registered Nurse/Midwife in charge in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable item requirements.
  • Ensure the appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide a positive patient experience through the delivery of high-quality customer service.
  • Identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Observe and maintain confidentiality of patient, staff, service, and organizational information.
  • Appropriately escalate identified concerns according to their level of urgency.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of positive health and promote it effectively.
  • Work within current hospital policies, reporting any sickness or accidents to the Physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife and Nurse Manager.
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues and other professionals to adhere to hospital policies, local requirements, and JCI standards.
  • Participate in other duties assigned by the Physician or Senior Nursing staff within the scope of practice.
  • Ensure patient belongings and valuables are kept safely, adhering to local procedures.
  • Administer and seek advice on appropriate measures in emergencies.
  • Maintain patient/client privacy and ensure dignity and freedom of choice are respected.
  • Report all changes in a patient’s condition to the Physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Maintain knowledge and skills and accept responsibility for personal education and career development.
  • Attend in-service training, other training programs, and meetings as required.
  • Set goals and standards for self-improvement.
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to NMC policies and recognize the legal limitations and ethical parameters of the role.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understand and respect cultural differences.
  • Take direction from the Registered Nurse/Midwife in problem-solving.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Be informed about health and safety regulations affecting their work unit.
  • Have full knowledge of fire precautions and regulations.
  • Be familiar with all types of hospital codes and know how to contact emergency services.
  • Contribute to corporate and organizational development as appropriate within the scope of service.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital health and safety regulations.
  • Meet work demands and follow directions accurately.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the line manager that commensurate with the post.
  • Assist the doctor during patient consultations by preparing the examination bed.
  • Ensure clinics are clean and medical waste is managed as per hospital/DOH guidelines.
  • Clean treatment rooms after each procedure.
  • Pre-clean used instruments before sending them to CSSD for sterilization.
  • Clean equipment after every use and date/sign the clean equipment tag.
  • Maintain an inventory of all clinical trays and surgical instruments stored in the doctor’s and treatment rooms.
  • Assist in outpatient clinics as required and be flexible in assignments as directed by the Registered Nurse/Midwife in charge.
  • Consistently comply with NMC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information received in their role, in accordance with confidentiality agreements and organizational policy.
  • Understand and adhere to the Emergency Preparedness Plan/Policy.
  • Participate in mandatory training and workshops as per organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Dress appropriately per organizational policy and UAE culture.
  • Comply with OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) and infection control policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions.
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and assist with risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Comply with waste management procedures and policies.
  • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Nursing qualification background. This can be bachelors in healthcare related field Two Years or more years of experience in hospital environment/ nursing experience. BLS certificate preferred. Computer literate Good communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
