Registered Nurse - Urgent Care

Job Description
- To support the Lead Nurse in achieving clinical objectives and in maintaining the highest standards of care throughout the Nursing Function.
- To ensure the highest standard of care is given to all patients in their care, always maintaining patient confidentiality.
- To provide expert specialist advice and support to patients following diagnosis and throughout their treatment.
- To adhere to the working practices within the Urgent Care Department.
- To undergo and actively participate in personal performance appraisals and competency reviews in accordance with Bareen Policies.
- To ensure information given to patients, relatives, visitors, and other staff is consistent with Bareen policies and procedures.
- To provide support to the medical department.
- To actively participate in the introduction of agreed new changes / systems within URGENT CARE.
- Participates in and maintains specifics audits and other data
- Participates in staff meeting / special projects and committees when required
- Coordinates and manages patients efficiently
- Demonstrate co-ordination, co-operation and respect among departments, staff, and patients to provide excellent customer service.
- Collaborates effectively with the multidisciplinary team
- Prioritize workload according to the need of the patient and workflow.
- To assist with the day-to-day management of clinical activity in all areas of the Nursing Function ensuring appropriate input to patient’s treatment with awareness of staffing levels and skill mix.
- To recognize the skills required to lead a small team within the clinical environment.
- To take some responsibility for the development of a specific task or project, this may be allocated within the role, dependent on skills and experience.
- Perform additional duties when required
Urgent care Duties and Responsibilities
- Assessing urgent care patients' charts, prescribed medications, and test results upon arrival.
- Performing physical examinations, as well as and tracking heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements.
- Interpreting health measurements, administering prescribed medication, and facilitating suitable treatment interventions.
- Inserting IVs and performing drug dose titration.
- Collecting phlebotomy and other diagnostic samples.
- Interpreting laboratory test results and collaborating with physicians on treatment plans.
- Reporting deteriorating conditions to primary healthcare specialists without delay.
- Maintaining and updating medical charts, patient files, and health records.
- Supervising new urgent care nurses.
- Explaining treatments, procedures, and after-care instructions, as well as answering patients' questions.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- To perform clinical tasks within own areas of expertise and experience.
- To ensure all care is given in accordance with agreed Bareen Policies.
- To maintain accurate and legible patient treatment records.
- To be responsible for maintaining full registration with DOH licensing authority and home country of license.
- To maintain own personal and professional development in accordance with DOH annual CME points as required.
- Attend mandatory study / training sessions and maintain training records file.
- To provide expert specialist advice and support to patients following diagnosis and throughout their treatment.
- To undergo and actively participate in personal performance appraisals and competency reviews in accordance with Bareen policy.
- To ensure that all equipment is adequately maintained and that any anomalies are reported immediately to the Lead Nurse and relevant department for correction

- To develop appropriate autonomy for decision making within the parameters of approved procedures, with guidance from senior staff.
- To assist in ensuring that the relevant Health and Safety regulations are adhered to within Urgent Care.
- To assist in ensuring adequate staffing levels are always maintained within the department.

- To keep up to date with current literature and research in the specialty.
- To develop an understanding of the different treatments available at Urgent Care.
- To maintain a safe clean working environment
- Assist in the development and implementation of Infection Control Policies within the department.
- To develop an understanding of the charging arrangements for all treatments offered at Urgent Care and the necessary paperwork that requires completion.
- To have complete knowledge and understanding of Urgent Care annual objectives and key performance indicators.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrable achievements and experience as a Registered Nurse /Charge Nurse / Head Nurse
- Proven ability to work with the department managers and Patient Care Executives.
- Preferable previous experience working in GCC.

- Completes annual education requirements.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Registered Nurse, Haad (DOH) Licensed.
- Registered Nurse, valid license in the country of origin
- Basic Life Support (BLS), PALS (Pediatric Advance Life Support), ACLS (Advance Cardiovascular Life Support) and any other unit specific training relevant to the area of specialty
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience post-graduation
